How roulette works
A roulette wheel has numbered pockets from 1 to 36, coloured red and black, plus one or two green zeros. Before each spin, you place chips on the betting layout. The dealer (or the random number generator in digital versions) spins the wheel, the ball settles in one pocket, and bets covering that number are paid.
In live roulette, a real dealer spins a physical wheel on a video stream, and you bet through the on-screen layout. In RNG roulette, software decides the result. The rules and payouts are the same either way.
European vs American roulette

Both wheels pay the same odds, but the American wheel has an extra pocket, the double zero. More pockets means a lower chance of winning at the same payout, so the house edge nearly doubles.

Inside bets go on specific numbers. Outside bets go on bigger groups.

Zero isn't red or black, odd or even, low or high. When the ball lands on 0, every outside bet loses. That's where the house edge comes from.
Many live tables also offer racetrack or call bets such as Voisins du Zéro, Tiers du Cylindre and Orphelins. These are just groups of inside bets placed together, with the same edge.
Roulette house edge explained
On a European wheel, every standard bet has the same house edge: 2.70% (1 in 37). It doesn't matter whether you bet on red or on a single number. The payouts are set just below the true odds.
Here's a simple example. Bet ₹100 on a single number on each of 37 spins and assume every number comes up once. You stake ₹3,700 and win once, getting ₹3,600 back (₹3,500 winnings plus your ₹100 stake). The ₹100 difference is the house edge: 100 ÷ 3,700 = 2.70%.
On an American wheel the same maths gives 5.26%. Some tables have other special rules, so always read the paytable in the game's info panel.
Lightning Roulette explained
Lightning Roulette is a live roulette game from Evolution. It uses a standard single-zero wheel and table, with one big twist.
- Lucky Numbers: after betting closes, between one and five numbers are struck by "lightning" each round.
- Multipliers: each Lucky Number gets a multiplier between 50x and 500x.
- Straight-up wins on a Lucky Number pay the multiplier instead of the normal payout.
- Straight-up wins on other numbers pay 29:1, not the usual 35:1. The lower base payout funds the multipliers.
- All other bets (splits, streets, dozens, red/black and so on) pay the normal rates and aren't boosted.
Evolution's published RTP for Lightning Roulette is 97.10% on straight-up bets and 97.30% on all other bets. The second figure is the same as a standard European table.
What this means for you: outside bets play exactly like normal European roulette. Straight-up bets become more volatile. You'll win less when a normal number hits, but you have a small chance of a much bigger payout. Check the game's info panel for the full rules.

Roulette systems and myths
"The Martingale always wins in the end." Doubling your stake after every loss can recover small losses, until a losing streak hits the table limit or your budget. Ten reds in a row on ₹100 bets would need a ₹1,02,400 stake on the next spin. The house edge doesn't change.
"Red has hit five times, so black is due." Each spin is independent. The wheel has no memory, and the "hot" and "cold" number boards on live tables are for entertainment only.
"Fibonacci, D'Alembert or Labouchère can beat roulette." These systems change how you stake, not the odds. Every bet still carries the same house edge.
"Online roulette is rigged." Live tables use real wheels on camera, and RNG games use tested random number generators. See our fairness page. Roulette isn't rigged, but it can't be beaten long term.
"Roulette prediction apps work." They don't. Many are scams that collect money or logins. Betroxy has no app to download, so avoid any "Betroxy APK".
