Dragon Tiger may be the fastest card game in any casino. Each side gets one card, and the higher card wins. There are no hands to build and no decisions after you bet, and a round takes seconds. That makes it hugely popular across India and Asia, alongside Andar Bahar for real cash. This guide covers the rules, card values, every bet type, what happens on a tie, the real odds, and how to play at Betroxy's live Dragon Tiger tables.
18+ only. Dragon Tiger is a game of chance. Play only with money you can afford to lose.
What is Dragon Tiger?
Dragon Tiger is a two-card version of baccarat. See our full baccarat rules and payouts. It's played with several standard decks, usually six or eight, shuffled together. The dealer deals one card face up to the Dragon and one card face up to the Tiger. You bet on which side will get the higher card, or on a tie. Digital and first-person versions are in the Dragon Tiger lobby.
Card values
| Card | Value |
|---|---|
| Ace | 1 (lowest) |
| 2–10 | Face value |
| Jack | 11 |
| Queen | 12 |
| King | 13 (highest) |
Suits don't affect the main result. A K♠ against a K♥ is a tie.
Bets and typical payouts
| Bet | Wins when | Typical payout |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon | Dragon card is higher | 1:1 |
| Tiger | Tiger card is higher | 1:1 |
| Tie | Both cards have the same value | 8:1 (some tables 11:1) |
| Suited Tie | Same value and same suit | Much higher, set by table |
Many tables also offer side bets such as Big/Small (above or below 7), Odd/Even and the card's suit for either side. Payouts and availability vary, so check the paytable in the game's info panel.
What happens to Dragon and Tiger bets on a tie?
At most tables, if the round is a tie, Dragon and Tiger bets lose half their stake and you get the other half back. Some variants use different rules. This one rule is the main source of the house edge on the main bets.
Dragon Tiger odds and house edge
Using the standard rules above (8 decks, 8:1 tie, half back on a tie), the approximate numbers are:
| Bet | Chance of winning | Approx. house edge |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon | ~46.3% (plus ~7.5% tie) | ~3.7% |
| Tiger | ~46.3% (plus ~7.5% tie) | ~3.7% |
| Tie (8:1) | ~7.5% | ~32% |
Two takeaways:
- Dragon and Tiger are mathematically identical. Neither side is "luckier".
- The Tie bet is expensive. The payout looks big, but at 8:1 its house edge is many times higher than the main bets. Tables that pay more on a tie have a lower edge, so check the paytable.
Dragon Tiger myths and "tricks"
"Follow the streak" or "bet against the streak." Every round is independent. Road maps and trend boards on live tables are for entertainment. They don't predict the next card.
"Card counting works in Dragon Tiger." With 6–8 decks and frequent reshuffles, any counting effect is tiny and doesn't overcome the house edge in practice.
"Dragon Tiger prediction apps and hacks." They don't work, and many are scams that harvest logins or deposits. Betroxy has no app to download, so avoid any "Betroxy APK" or third-party tool.

Bet sizing in INR
Dragon Tiger rounds are extremely fast, often 25–30 seconds on live tables and even quicker on speed versions. That's more than 100 rounds an hour, so small stakes matter.
| Session budget | Stake per round (1–3%) | Rough spend per hour at ~100 rounds, if you lose ~3.7% of stakes |
|---|---|---|
| ₹1,000 | ₹10–₹30 | ~₹37–₹111 expected loss |
| ₹5,000 | ₹50–₹150 | ~₹185–₹555 expected loss |
The "expected loss" column is the long-run average cost of play at that pace. Actual sessions swing well above and below it. The figures are illustrations, not Betroxy's table limits.
Good habits: set a budget and a time limit, keep stakes flat, skip the Tie bet or keep it tiny, and stop when you reach your limit, win or lose.

Dragon Tiger FAQ
How do you play Dragon Tiger?
Bet on Dragon, Tiger or Tie. The dealer gives one card to each side, and the higher card wins. Ace is low (1) and King is high (13).
What does a tie pay in Dragon Tiger?
Typically 8:1, though some tables pay 11:1. On a tie, Dragon and Tiger bets usually lose half their stake. Check the table's paytable.
Is Dragon or Tiger better?
Neither. Both have the same odds and the same house edge, about 3.7% under standard rules.
Is there a trick to win Dragon Tiger?
No. Results are random and independent. Streak systems, card counting and prediction apps don't overcome the house edge.
Can I play Dragon Tiger on mobile in India?
Yes. Betroxy's Dragon Tiger tables run in mobile browsers. There's no Betroxy app, so avoid unofficial APKs.
What is Lightning Dragon Tiger?
